Overview of Calculator
The device comes with a calculator that has two modes:
- Simple Calculator: Performs a variety of basic calculation
functions.
- Engineering Calculator: Performs a variety of advanced
calculation functions.
To open the Calculator, tap
> Programs > Calculator.
To switch to Engineering Calculator mode, turn the device to landscape orientation.
To switch to Simple Calculator mode, turn the device to portrait orientation.
Notes:
- Both calculators display numbers in fixed-point notation and decimal base.
- The Simple Calculator is only available when using the device in portrait
mode.
- The Engineering Calculator is only available when using the device in landscape
mode.

Using Calculator Memory
Simple Calculator
Use the Simple Calculator to do basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division. You can also work with numbers you store in the
calculator memory.
Operate the calculator the same as you would a handheld calculator by touching
the onscreen keys to enter numbers and perform calculations.
- Touch C to clear the current number or calculation.
- Touch the arrow key next to the numerical display to clear the last digit
entered. Touch and hold the arrow key to continue clearing digits.
- Touch Copy to copy the displayed value to the clipboard.
You can then paste it in any other application that has a paste function,
such as Notes.
Notes:
- The Simple Calculator can only be used when the device is in portrait mode.
- A maximum of 9 digits can be entered for each number.
- The Simple Calculator will revert to exponential display if a number is
larger than 9 digits for positive numbers (for example, 1.23e+11 = 123,000,000,000)
or 8 digits for negative numbers (for example, 1.23e-11 = 0.0000000000123).
- Exceptions are indicated by an E in the calculation result
display. When an exception occurs, (for example, division by zero or some
other illegal operation) calculator functions are disabled until you touch
C to clear the exception.

Using Calculator Memory
Engineering Calculator
Use the Engineering Calculator to perform more complex calculations such as
square roots, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, percentages, and more.
The Engineering Calculator has two displays, the formula editor and the calculation
result.
Formula Editor
When you touch calculation function buttons, the corresponding operand or operator
is displayed in the formula editor. You can continue to enter operands and operators
to build the equation.
Tap the arrow key next to the formula editor display to clear the last operand
or operator entered. Tap and hold the arrow key to continue clearing entries.
Calculation Result
The calculation result is displayed when you touch the equal (=) button. Clear
the calculation result by touching the AC or C
buttons.
Calculation Function Buttons
- Touch FN to access the second (green) layer of engineering
calculation buttons.
- Touch Rad/Deg to toggle between degrees or radian measurement
- Touch AC to clear the formula expression, calculation result,
or exception.
- Touch C to clear the calculation result or exception.
- Touch = to display the result of the formula entered into
the formula editor.
Notes:
- The Engineering Calculator can only be used when the device is in landscape
mode.
- The Engineering Calculator will revert to exponential display if a number
is larger than 14 digits for positive and negative numbers
(for example, 1.23e+11 = 123,000,000,000, 1.23e-11 = 0.0000000000123).
- Exceptions are indicated by an E in the calculation result
display. When an exception occurs, (for example, division by zero or some
other illegal operation) calculator functions are disabled until you touch
AC or C to clear the exception. Note that
touching AC clears not only the exception, but also the formula expression
and the calculation result. Touching C clears the exception only.
